Indiana Corn Growers Association Statement on Trade Promotion Authority
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 15, 2015) — Wabash, Indiana farmer Herb Ringel, president of the Indiana Corn Growers Association released the following statement Thursday following Senate action invoking cloture on Fast Track Trade Promotion Authority legislation:
"Today’s Senate vote is a significant step toward approving Trade Promotion Authority and the Trans Pacific Partnership. Indiana corn farmers applaud the Senate for reversing course from earlier in the week and invoking cloture and beginning final debate on this important legislation.
We export over $410 million dollars of corn every year. Finalizing deals like TPP will mean more exports and better prices for the corn we sell, strengthening our local economies and helping better fund our local roads and schools.
We thank Senator Dan Coats for voting in favor of the legislation, and we encourage all Indiana farmers to contact Senator Joe Donnelly at (202) 224-4814 and ask him to support Indiana farmers and to support final passage of Trade Promotion Authority.”
